Winds of Change for Marine Bunker Fuel Regulations
At the moment, the specter of tightening regulation is a fact of life across nearly every niche of the energy industry. Governments worldwide are working both separately and together to develop limits on sulfur and carbon emissions from industry, improvements in mileage standards for automobiles and better oversight of derivatives trading. While all of these regulatory efforts will eventually impact the tanker industry, the effort to reduce sulfur content of marine bunker fuels is of immediate concern for both the bunkering and shipping industries.
