TradeWinds: Poten sees LNG shipping upturn from later 2018
31 May 2017: “LNG shipping markets are likely to remain flat throughout this year and into the first half of next, but could show recovery from the second half of 2018 when new LNG volumes start to come onstream, according to shipbroker Poten & Partners.”
“Poten estimates that another 125 mtpa of LNG capacity will come online in the period up to 2021 — just shy of 50% of the LNG traded in 2016.”
“Last year, Poten logged 255 country-to-country trade routes, up from 43 in 2000. But taken on a port-to-port basis, the figure for 2016 increases to 616 and almost half of those routes are trades into emerging markets or India and China.”
