TradeWinds ‘Two Europes’: LNG demand to peak in 2027 before plateauing, says Poten

December 5, 2024 “Growth in demand for LNG in Europe will peak in the next two years before flattening out,” according to broker and consultant Poten & Partners. At an LNG breakfast briefing in Houston on its 2025 outlook, Poten analysts headed by global head of business intelligence Jason Feer, showed European LNG demand growth at just shy of 140 mtpa in 2027 and 2028 before starting to drop. But they identified “two Europes” where Germany plus countries such as Belgium, Poland and some eastern and southern European nations experienced rising LNG demand while for others it fell.
