The Wall Street Journal: Australia May Get World’s First Floating LNG Project
“Australia may accommodate the world’s first large-scale floating liquefied natural gas plant, likely after 2015, amid a wider global increase in the technology’s use, global energy consultancy Poten & Partners said Friday. Poten & Partners Manager Asia Pacific Daryl Houghton said the lower cost to develop floating LNG platforms and increasing medium-term demand for gas will present opportunities for the floating LNG sector. ‘We certainly think that the concept of floating LNG will succeed,’ Houghton told a conference in Darwin. ‘It may not succeed quickly but as we go through the next 10-to-15 years, we’ll see more and more floating LNG projects starting up.'”
