Tanker Shipping & Trade: US product tanker exports on the rise

“Booming US crude oil exports are making the headlines, but shale crude oil and gas is also a relatively cheap feedstock for local refineries. US shipbroker Poten and Partners’ latest weekly report is a timely look at refined petroleum product exports.”
According to Poten head of research Erik Broekhuizen, who featured in the Tanker Shipping & Trade Industry Leaders supplement, European demand for US exports has fallen from almost 20% in 2012, to a little more than 12% last year.”
“Given the nature of the product trades and the distances involved, it is not surprising that the MR product tankers are the dominant vessel class in these trades, reported Poten.”
