Taipower to Shortlist LNG Suppliers in September for New Generation

Taipower will announce a shortlist of suppliers by late September based on offers submitted in response to the request for proposals for 1.8-2.4 MMt/y delivered to its proposed import terminal in Taichung. Submissions closed on Aug. 15.

Pricing in the offers is mostly in the 12% range for 15 years starting in 2023-2024, industry sources said. The supply would be imported through the Taichung terminal that will be completed in 2023 would serve two new 1.3-GW combined-cycle power units. The first power unit will start up commercially in March 2024 and the second in January 2025.
