Short-Term Memory Loss
Memory loss, at least in some capacity, is associated with the passing of time. Applying this theory to the tanker market, it appears that memories can be extremely short-lived. Day-to-day movements and high volumes of fixture activity can quickly change the definition of what constitutes a strong market. Moreover, market movements and surges in rates tend to erase the memories of weak markets altogether. Perhaps it is time to jog our memories and gain perspective on today’s market by looking to the past.
