Russia Turns Up The Volume

Russian crude oil production and exports have been in the news lately.  It is being reported that Russia is shipping more crude to China and less to Europe.  This shift in target market seems logical since the Chinese market is bigger and growing faster.  This could lead to significant changes in tanker trading patterns and ton-mile demand.  How big these changes will be and where they will impact the various crude oil tanker segments depends on a number of factors, such as which crude (if any) Russia is displacing in China and where Europe is sourcing the shortfall (if needed).
