Platts: India Major Destination for Singlehull VLCCs

“India has overtaken South Korea as the top charterer hiring single-hull Very Large Crude Carriers for shipping oil into its refineries, brokers Poten & Partners said in a report published over the weekend. While South Korea with 182 calls was the top destination for single-hull VLCCs discharging crude in 2007, India is the leading discharge country for these vessels for 2009 with 53 calls made so far, the report noted. In 2007, India took the second spot with the single-hull VLCCs making 115 calls.”
