Pakistan Plans More Terminals as Demand Expected to Surge
12 Oct 2016: A month after finalizing a second floating storage-and-regasification unit (FSRU), Pakistan is looking to add two more import terminals. If both those projects come on stream as envisaged, Pakistan could become an import market of 10-13.5 MMt/y by 2018, making it one of the largest emerging importers.
Pakistan started importing in 2015 through its first Excelerate–owned FSRU, Exquisite, operated by Engro Energy. Imports reached slightly over 1 MMt in 2015 and this year are set to reach 3 MMt through its 15-year long-term supply deals with Qatargas and trading firm Gunvor
