Natural Gas Intelligence: U.S. LNG Exports to Asia Continue Outpacing European Deliveries

Poten & Partners’ Jason Feer, global head of business intelligence, added that the arbitrage between the international market and the domestic Chinese trucking market is open, so Chinese importers have been buying more LNG. Japanese inventories were also drawn down this summer because of air conditioning demand, so utilities have been restocking.
“As long as there is enough gas in storage in Europe and heating demand doesn’t start to draw down inventories, U.S. cargoes will flow to Asia where price sensitive demand can absorb it,” Feer told NGI.
