Natural Gas Intelligence: Four U.S. LNG Projects Appear Poised for FID, but Hurdles Remain

January 22, 2025 Last year was marked by a regulatory pause for some LNG projects in the United States seeking worldwide exports and softening commodity prices that helped chill development. “But, despite a year without a U.S. project reaching FID, it was still an active period of LNG export development,” Jason Feer, global head of business intelligence at Poten & Partners, told NGI. “Even with all the regulatory challenges, the big issue for projects going forward will still be commercial,” Feer said. “You have to sell volumes and satisfy banks by offering them the security to lend to you.”
