Mid-Term Ejections
Whether one identifies with the Republicans or the Democrats, this week’s turn of events in Washington, DC was certainly interesting. The 2006 Mid-Term Elections saw Democrats take the majority in both the Senate (51%) and the House of Representatives (54%) for the remainder of George W. Bush’s term in office. The effects of the re- balance of power will undoubtedly be widespread. As the Democratic Party has many key initiatives to enact, Republicans and the President will have a more difficult time implementing their existing agenda. The map below represents the Senatorial victories for those states where elections were held. The states that are shown in dark blue saw a change in representation from Republican to Democrat, where the lighter shaded states did not see a change in the representative Party.
