Long-Term Deals for New Capacity Lead Binding Contracts Signed in 1H 2018

Long-term contracts with developers looking to build new LNG capacity came back into favor in the first half of 2018 after virtually vanishing in 2017.
Poten observed 23 transactions in the first six months of 2018, including bilateral sales and purchase agreements (SPA), tender awards and renegotiations – roughly in line on an annualized basis with the 40 transactions done in 2017. However, the size and duration of the deals, as well as the counterparties to the transactions, were markedly different in the first half of 2018 compared with last year
