Lloyd’s List: Unipec retains position as world’s largest dirty tanker spot charterer

“CHINA’S staterun Unipec, the oil trading arm of China Petroleum & Chemical Corp, or Sinopec, continues to hold the top spot in Poten & Partners’ rankings of the largest dirty spot charterers for 2016″
” ‘At 10,264 fixtures, the overall volume of reported spot movements in 2016 was 214 (2.1%) higher than in the prior year,” Poten said in a report.’ ”
“In the very large crude carrier segment, Unipec practically dominated the whole market with 524 reported fixtures, which is equal to the next five largest VLCC charterers combined, which were Indian Oil, Reliance Industries, Shell, Petrochina and ExxonMobil, Poten’s Erik Broekhuizen writes.”
