Lloyd’s List: Concordia Maritime Sticks to ‘Schoolbook’ for Reducing Risk
“…Experts say refinery capacity is increasing in the Middle East and Asia, but decreasing in Europe and the US, creating longer transport distances to the end consumer, benefiting tonne-miles for product tankers….However, a recent report by Poten & Partners cast doubt on the scale of developments for longhaul trades. It said global refinery capacity additions were projected to total 7.6m barrels per day in the period 2006-2012, but global additions over that period only amounted to 5.3m bpd.”
