Lloyd’s List: Aframax Owners Hope for Rates Hike in Caribbean

“The Baltic Exchange TD9 route, shipping 70,000 tonne crude cargoes from Puerto La Cruz to Corpus Christi, rose yesterday to W144 or $12,838 per day, up from W135 or $10,528 on Friday and W110 or $3,611 two weeks ago. New York-based Poten & Partners said the boost in aframax rates last week was created by increased demand for lightering vessels to the US Gulf due to ‘spill-related complications’ and weather-related delays.”
