February Good for Cheniere’s Corpus Project, Bad for Sabine Pass
3 March 2018: February started well for Cheniere Energy’s Corpus Christ export project but there was bad news about the company’s already operating Sabine Pass project.
On Feb. 9, Cheniere announced that Cheniere Marketing Inc. (CMI) and the Corpus Christi export project had signed two LNG sales and purchase agreements (SPA) with PetroChina, a unit of state-owned China National Petroleum Corp. Under those SPAs, PetroChina will buy about 1.2 MMt/y of LNG. One SPA begins this year and runs through 2043. The other starts in 2023 and also runs through 2043.
