Fairplay: Static Year for Dirty Fixtures
“VLCCs and Suezmaxes rose slightly, while the Aframax and Panamax sectors dropped moderately. VLCC fixtures totalled 1,922 in 2011, up from 1,738 in 2010. Suezmax fixtures totalled 1,876, up from 1,847 in 2010. Aframax fixtures fell from 4,314 in 2010 to 4,186 in 2011 while Panamax fixtures fell from 796 to 686. The tanker consultancy Poten & Partners said the Aframax spot market is shrinking because of dwindling crude export volumes in their primary markets, namely the UK Continent and Caribbean.”
