Bloomberg: China’s Looming Gas Surplus May Spur Demand-Boosting Policies
02 Mar 2015: “China may have a gas surplus by 2020, especially if oil prices remain low. That could spur the government to pursue policies to increase gas use. Demand in 2020 could be 360 billion cubic meters, the NDRC said in September, or just 310 bcm if oil prices remain low, according to the China Petroleum & Chemical Industry Federation. Supplies could be as high as 412 bcm, with 62.9 bcm of LNG imports, based on Poten & Partners data, and 105 bcm via pipelines. A risk could be domestic output missing a 245 bcm target.”
