Lloyd’s List: Clean Fixtures Rise 16% as Spot Rates Hit Bottom

“Wednesday ROCK-bottom freight rates for product tankers saw the number of clean fixtures on the spot market rise by 16% in 2009 to 5,688, based on data from New York-based Poten & Partners….’It seems that more refined petroleum products were moved between the world’s ports on spot vessels, with the bulk of the growth reportedly loading in the Middle and Far Eastern zones,’ Poten & Partners said in its report, Clean Sweepers: 2009’s Top Clean Charterers.”
