Lloyd’s List: Iran Plans to Start LNG Exports Next Year
“Iran is said to be planning to start exporting liquefied natural gas to global energy markets next year, undermining the impact of international sanctions on its oil exports, a gas conference was told today. The controversial move will allow Iran to offset lost revenues from its reduced oil exports, which will drop by around 1m barrels per day this year due to sanctions designed to persuade Iran to stop its nuclear programme. . . . ‘Today there are enough new [export] projects,’ said GDF Suez vice-president of LNG Frederic Deybach, while Poten & Partners LNG consultant Chris Meyer said: ‘There’s no shortage of gas.’”
