Lloyds List: Owners Bet on US Energy Boom
“Speakers at Evercore’s first Shipping Investment Opportunities From The US Shale-gas Boom laid out the ever-evolving market forces surrounding LNG and LPG and how these new developments will affect or transform shipping….As for LNG, the numbers are…promising, worldwide supply rising to 450m tonnes by 2030, from 250m tonnes last year, according to data from research from Poten & Partners….Within the US alone, if all proposed liquefaction terminals awaiting approval from the government go ahead, that would add an additional 270m tonnes….However, that is an overly aggressive projection, according to Nicholas Potter, of Poten & Partners….The fleet today comprises 379 vessels, up from 110 in 2000, which Potter said constituted ‘the largest fleet expansion ever.”
