Lloyds List: DHT’s Larger VLCC Fleet Enters Brave New World
“In March 2001, a VLCC was fixed from the Caribbean to India with a cargo of Venezuelan crude for the first time ever, according to a new report by Poten & Partners. Venezuela’s coast is in the Caribbean Basin. “At the time, this was a highly unusual movement, but it was clearly a harbinger of things to come,’ said Poten’s report. So far in 2014, an average of 25 vessels per month are fixed from the Caribbean to Asia, not only to China, but increasingly also to India, Poten stated.”
