The Fall and Rise of Tanker Rates

The last week of 2004 saw a precipitous fall in VLCC rates from over $200,000 per day to $35,000 per day. Does this presage the end of the era of high rates and a return to the doldrums that normally prevail in this industry? Or is it merely a pause that refreshes?
