Holding the Maya

After reaching a zenith of 3.46 million bbls/day in late 2003, Mexico’s crude oil production has declined. At the end of 2007, production had declined from this peak by nearly 500 thousand bbls/day or about 14.5 percent – essentially returning production rates to levels typical of the late 1990’s.
