The Final Countdown

Welcome to the fourth quarter! With the exception of a few strongly asserted bearish opinions, seemingly most of the industry has formed a consensus “shrug” toward expectations for the balance of the year. While little certainty exists surrounding the strength of crude oil demand recovery, wintertime in the northern hemisphere consistently introduces some seasonal inefficiencies into the system ‐ fewer daylight hours and unexpected cold snaps, for example. While we head into this famed time of the year, some shipowners might hold their breath, cross their fingers and wait for the demand to surge.
