Lloyd’s List: Aronnax: Brokers Define Eco-ships
“The differences may become clear now that Poten and Partners, the US broker, has announced it will assess tanker charter rates separately for what it calls eco- and non eco-ships. As Poten implies in a recent briefing, when the shipyards began getting more orders after the slump, they quickly recognised the benefits of acquiescing to owners’ desires for improved designs. From 2011, says Poten, an estimated 670 tankers of more than 30,000 dwt have been ordered worldwide and the vast majority are assumed to be of the eco-design.”
