Seatrade Maritime News: Trump and US LNG exports – the devil is the details

Poten & Partners, a leading expert on all things LNG, hosted a webinar featuring Senior LNG Analyst Sergio Chapa and covering a broad range of topics-including the situation after 20 January when Donald Trump assumed office this time around.

Chapa highlighted the potential in the States following Trump’s Executive Orders “Unleashing American Energy” and another with a declaration of an “Energy Emergency”. Already the world’s leading LNG exporter, shipping more than 88 million tons per year (MTY) abroad, in 2024, Poten estimates show projects of 79.2 MTY export capacity under construction, and projects in excess of 250 million MTY export capacity, at various stages of permit approvals, that have not yet seen Final Investment Decisions (FID). All going well, these might come online over the next ten years.
