“While geopolitical factors will continue to play a part in the market, the supply-demand forecasts from major oil research outfits suggest things should start looking up,” the broker’s tanker research head Erik Broekhuizen said.
He noted the US Energy Information Administration expects 1.3m barrels per day growth this year, while the International Energy Agency expects a 1m bpd jump, with supply growth outstripping demand.
“Overall, based on global oil demand and supply fundamentals, the 2025 outlook for tanker tonne-mile demand seems modestly positive,” Broekhuizen said.
