Natural Gas Intelligence: LNG Freight Rates Forecast to Stay Lower for Longer

Poten and Partners’ Jason Feer, global head of business intelligence, agreed that “freight rates are going to be under pressure through 2025 because of the large number of newbuilds entering the market.”
If there is a cold winter and European inventories are depleted, Poten expects to see some support next year as Europe and Asia would require more natural gas.
“But there is not a lot of new supply coming online next year, so fairly flat supply plus a big jump in tonnage means that rates could be under further pressure,” Feer told NGI.
