LNG in World Markets: New Thai Buyers Take Short-Term LNG Supply

New Thai LNG buyers – the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and Hin Kong Power – have signed sale and purchase agreements (SPAs) for short-term supply delivering between 2024 and 2026.
The country has plans to liberalize its gas markets and has issued LNG import licenses and quotas to multiple firms. State-run energy company PTT is Thailand’s primary LNG buyer. Hurdles to liberalization, however, remain.
