Lloyd’s List: Sanctions on Russia alter tanker chartering activity

THE new sanctions regime imposed on Russia has impacted the ranking of crude tanker charterers on spot markets, according to US shipbroker Poten & Partners.
Russia’s Lukoil has dropped out of the top 20, while Total and ExxonMobil’s leading positions of spot fixtures in suezmaxes reflect how Europe is replacing Russian crude with cargo from the Middle East and the US.
