LPG Market Outlook: Higher US Propane Production Won’t Calm Volatility

The increase in US propane production has driven exports higher. However, propane export growth has not matched production growth. Through July 2022, propane exports were only 3% higher than last year. Propane exports in the month of February averaged 86,000 t/d opposed to 110,000 t/d every other month so far this year.

For the rest of year, propane exports are forecast to continue at the 110,000 t/d mark and average 3.4 MMt/m. Propane exports are forecast to be 39 MMt/y in 2022, 42.7 MMt/y in 2023 and 45.7 MMt/y in 2024.
