Fog delays to hit US exports in February

February has seen the return of sea fog at the Houston Ship Channel and along the US Gulf Coast, affecting LPG liftings across major US export terminals. Disruptions to loading schedules are not uncommon at this time of the year and Poten’s analysis for this time in 2017 showed that VLGC loadings at US Gulf Coast terminals on occasions took twice as long to load and set sail for their onward destination than when operating in fair weather conditions. However, as the US claims an increasingly large share of the total seaborne LPG market, the implications of such delays are being felt beyond markets in the US and Atlantic Basin.
