BNP Paribas To Stop Financing Projects Based On Shale Gas

The BNP Paribas Group announced on Oct. 11 that it would stop financing projects primarily involved in the transport or export of oil and gas from shale, or oil from tar sands. It indicates that banks are continuing to reassess their exposure to hydrocarbons, with the French bank’s CEO, Jean-Laurent Bonnafe, say the move aims to drive the energy transition and contribute to decarbonization of the economy.
