Smaller Chinese Companies Seek LNG Start of Terminal Operations
20 July 2017: Smaller Chinese players are pushing ahead with plans for regasification and storage terminals, in an effort to secure a toehold in the domestic gas supply chain. In recent months, provincially owned Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group and Xinjiang Guanghui have each made moves to buy their own LNG supply. Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group has 2.9 GW of power generation capacity, with coal accounting for about 76% of its total generation. Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group is the largest power producer in the province and also owns over 1,000km of pipeline infrastructure with a total capacity of 6bcm/y.
