U.S. Crude Exports Are No Joke
01 April 2016: In December 2015 the U.S. Congress voted to lift the crude oil export ban that had been in place since 1975. The ban was imposed after the 1973-74 oil embargo by the Middle Eastern members of the Organization of Oil Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the economic crisis that resulted from it. Expectations were high when the ban was lifted, and now that the U.S. oil market has operated for three months without the ban, it is a good moment to see how the lifting of the ban is panning out so far.
