Demand in South Korea is recovering and Kogas is keen to line up new term supplies from Australia to avoid a repeat of 2008, when Seoul’s refusal to sanction more contracts proved extraordinarily costly for the state-owned firm and helped drive spot market prices above $20/MMBtu.
